In that morning, the Duke chose one of his field servants to be used as the "whipping serf" of the castle.

During the hunt, in the morning, the Duke chose one of his field servants and established that he would be used as the "whipping serf" of the Hall of Princes.
The servant tried to appeal to his Master's mercy, but was unsuccessful, as the former had already died a week ago. The Hall of Princes was the large hall where the young nobles drank, played, played cards and chatted in the afternoons. On the long, cold winter afternoons, arguments and heated fights among the spoiled and bored boys were frequent.
Years ago, the Head Butler has suggested to the Duke to place some miserable servant there to be punished freely by the boys, so that they can vent their angers and tensions. The idea was so successful that it became a winter tradition for the castle. Some gross and tough servant was kept naked and tied to the ceiling for long hours to be cruelly whipped by any nobleman who felt like it.
When any of the noble lads became irritated or bored he could choose from the various types of innumerable whips available around the room, and whip the servant until he was sated or tired of doing so.The beatings also entertained the others present, a spectacle appreciated by all.
There was also the vanity of the nobleman who whipped to show off his mastery and skill with longer whips.
Sometimes bets were rolled among the nobles about how many lashes were needed to make the servant faint or who was able to more accurately hit a specific nipple or the head of the servant's penis.
Although the most common were short and violent beatings, a few more enthusiastic ones continued to whip the "whipping serf" from the castle even after he had been dead for more than an hour.
The Duke himself often enjoyed this entertainment so much that he spent long hours in the afternoons drinking and watching the servant's whipping.

    1. Thank you my friend. I think a man naked and bound can be very decorative in a palace hall. Especially when it's decorated with lash marks.
