The moment the prisioner realizes the beating is inevitable. The expectation of the beating, the fear of pain is very
exciting.

As you may have noticed I altered the photos in this post. Prisoners were beaten with his pants fangs in the middle of the belly. I lowered his pants exposing part of the butt of the boys. A man should be flogged at a post- wrists above the head or beside his head. Your drawing gets across the idea of the young man's fear of the whip when it is first shown to him. The lowering of the old fashioned prison pants is very effective- increasing the boys humiliation. The drawing of the boy, tied to the post, forehead against the post, and with his pants suspenders dangling down his leg, the top of his buttocks exposed. The wait for the whipping to begin would be excruciating for the lad.
